107 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FARQUHARSON, Donald Donald was born on July 29, 1924 in Palmerston, Ontario. He enlisted in the 7th Medium Regiment (Walkerton, Listowel and Lindsay combined) in July 1939 and served in England, France, Italy, Poland, Holland and Germany. He was a Gunner as well as a Paratrooper, a Medical Officer’s assistant and Officer’s driver. He remembers when he once had a shell bounce off his helmet and another time, he jumped into a German foxhole. Everyone was so surprised that he jumped back out and ran to the closest Canadian foxhole. Donald was discharged in June 1946 and has been a member of Brock Legion Branch 141 in Sunderland for sixty years. FARRISH, Jasper W. Jasper was born on February 11, 1925 in Ashfield Township, Canada. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and served with 407 Squadron in Canada, England and France. His years of service include: 1943-1948, Yorkshire, England; 1953-1960, Camp Borden; 1960-1964, 2 Wing Grostenquin, France; 1965-1975, North Bay, Ontario; and he retired in 1977. Jasper has been a member of Howick-Wroxeter Legion Branch 307 for thirty-seven years. FARQUHARSON, James James was born in August 1885 in Aberlour, Scotland. After enlisting in 1914, he served in Canada and France with the 18th Battery Canadians, Company “A”, Platoon #1, Section 4. Regimental Sergeant Major fought in the Battle of Vimy Ridge before he was discharged in 1918. James passed away around October 1967.
