165 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND KUSIAK, Richard C. Richard was born in Timmins, Ontario on July 9, 1956. He joined the Army on April 13, 1973 and served as a Master Corporal in Timmins with the Algonquin Regiment, “B” Company, until his discharge on August 26, 1975. He currently works for Trans Canada Pipelines and resides in Kapuskasing where he has been a member of Legion Branch 85 for twenty years. LAFOLLEY, Dalton L. “Chuck” Chuck was born in Webbwood, Ontario in 1921. He enlisted in the Sault Regiment in September 1941 and was honourably released in November 1945. He served in Europe, France, Germany and was wounded in Italy in 1944. Chuck re-enlisted in April 1952 and served until November 1971. He did a tour with the International Commission of Control and Supervision (ICCS) in Vietnam in 1967-1968 and finished his career as a Sergeant in the Canadian Army Pay Corps. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the War Medal 1939-45, ICCS Service Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration with Clasp. Chuck is enjoying his retirement in his hometown and has been a member of Espanola Legion Branch 39 for sixty-seven years. LACH, Jan Jan was born in Wierzbie, Stopnicakielce, Poland on August 23, 1914 and served with the 2nd Armoured Battalion, taking part in a campaign in Poland from 19381939 when he was deported to the USSR. When released, he enlisted in the Polish Forces in the USSR on August 25, 1941. On crossing the Soviet-Iranian frontier, he came under British Command. He served in the Middle East (1942-44), Italy (1944-46) and in the UK (1946-47). He was posted to the 4th Armoured Regiment, 2 Warszawska Armoured Division, 2nd Polish Corps, 8th British Army and saw action in Italy at the Battle for Monte Cassino, at Gustav-Hitler Line, Ancona-Goths Line, Rearguard of the 8th British Army, Northern Apennines, on the River Senio, Battle for Bologna. Discharged on December 2, 1946, Jan received the Cross of Monte Cassino, Cross for Valour, Army Medal, Honourary Decoration for Wounds, 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. He was a member of the Polish Veterans Legion Branch 418 in St. Catharines for fifty-eight years before he passed away on February 27, 1997.
