175 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LOUCKS, George Cecil George was born in Flesherton, Ontario on March 20, 1920. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 and served as a Sergeant in Canada until his discharge in October 1945. He was a member of Chesley Legion Branch 144 for sixty years before he passed away on April 30, 2011. LOVE, Alan W. Alan was born in England on March 30, 1926. He joined the Royal Marines on June 9, 1943 and served in the South Pacific on HMS Indomitable until his discharge on September 18, 1946. Alan was a member of Port Perry Legion Branch 419 for eighteen years before his death on January 10, 2000. LOUNSBURY, Elton Martin Elton was born in Wheatley, Ontario on January 1, 1923. He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve on January 20, 1943 and served as an Able Seaman aboard HMCS New Glasgow, a river class frigate. His ship served on convoy duty in the North Atlantic but also made one trip to Murmansk on the famous Murmansk Run. He often said one trip there was quite enough. The New Glasgow’s one claim to fame was that it rammed and sank the last German U-Boat of the war off Londonderry, England. After his discharge in October 22, 1945, Elton joined Wheatley Legion Branch 324 in March 1946 and was a member for sixty-seven consecutive years before he passed away on March 30, 2013.
