177 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LOVE, Elmer Elmer was born on January 21, 1921 in Markdale Ontario. He joined the Army in September 1942 and served with the Grey Simcoe Foresters, 1st Hussars, in Canada, England and Northwest Europe before being discharged on March 5, 1946. Elmer was a member of Tara Legion Branch 383 for fifty-four years before he passed away on January 8, 2002. LUNDRIGAN (TAYLOR), Jemima B. Jemima was born on February 24, 1924 in Edinburgh. She joined the British Navy on June 23, 1943 and served in England with WRNS at HMS Pembroke. She spent most of her years of service at St. Mark’s Base in Chelsea, London and was stationed in Dover on D-Day. This was a particularly dangerous assignment because Dover was used as a decoy, drawing the fire of the enemy so that the invasion forces could attack the Germans further up the coast. Jemima was discharged on October 20, 1945. LUCKHART, Rex Rex was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1916. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942 and was commissioned a Pilot Officer in 1944. He was sent to England to Bomber Command from where he flew 46 missions as navigator on Halifax bombers. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and was discharged in 1945. Rex returned to Canada where he served in municipal politics and retired as Clerk Treasurer of the Municipality of Chesley, Ontario. He resides in Hanover where he is a member of Legion Branch 130.
