183 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MACDONALD, Thomas L. Thomas was born in Truro, Nova Scotia on March 11, 1965. He joined the Army on November 12, 1982 and served with 5 Brigade, Service Battalion, HQ/Sigs Regiment and the 4th Fighter Wing in Valcartier, Quebec, Baden, Germany and Edmonton, Alberta. Thomas was discharged on November 12, 1996. He has been a member of Tottenham Legion Branch 329 for three years. MACFARLANE, Clifford A. Clifford was born in Combermere, Ontario on December 10, 1934. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on September 29, 1955 as a Peacekeeper. He got his I.S. Tech then he became Flight Simulator Tech on October 17, 1974. Clifford took his Basic Simulator Course on the Voodoo and in 1971, qualified as Maintenance OJC-C7101 Voodoo Trainer. He served in Canada, in the Congo, at El-Arish and Egypt and was discharged in October 1985. Clifford earned the Canadian Forces Decoration while in Egypt. He was with the Canadian Commissionaires from 1985 until his death on September 22, 2001 at which time he was the Commander of the Commissionaires. Clifford was also a member of the Barry’s Bay Legion Branch 406 for more than fifteen years. MACDOUGALL, Peter A. Peter was born on August 2, 1921 in Arthur Township. He joined the Army on October 6, 1941 and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany during World War II. He recalls being stationed near Caen in France when a dispatch rider came by and told him the 3rd Division LAA was set up in a field nearby. His younger brother, Tuffy, was in that division so he jumped on the back of the dispatcher’s motorcycle and went to see him. Their visit was cut short when the Germans flew over and Tuffy had to get back on the gun. Peter headed back to his division and it was a long time before he saw his brother again. He was discharged on February 26, 1946. Peter was Past President of Mount Forest Legion Branch 134 where he played an integral role in collecting wartime artifacts for a display at the Legion. He was a member there for thirty years before he passed away on October 14, 2010.
