27 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BALDWIN, William Warren William was born on April 25, 1775 in Summer Hill, Ireland. On June 26, 1812, he joined the First Regiment of the Durham Militia and served as a Lieutenant-Colonel in the War of 1812. His father, Robert Baldwin, was in charge of the Regiment. BALINSON, Morley L. Morley was born on December 7, 1925 in Hamilton, Ontario. During WWII, he served with the Reinforcement Pool. He later joined the 2 Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in August 1950, serving in Korea until 1951 before being released in February 1952. He was awarded the United States Presidential Unit Citation for service at the Battle of Kap’Yong (April 24/25, 1951). After Korea, he became R.S.M. with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (P.L.) Canada. He retired at age 77 from the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires and his awards include the Canadian Forces Decoration, the UN Medal Commonwealth/Korea as well as the 60th Anniversary Queen’s Jubilee Medal. Morley has been a member of Maccabees Legion Branch 343 and Valley City Branch 36 for a total of sixty-two years. BALINSON, Alexander “Alex” Alex was born in Hamilton, Ontario on April 9, 1918. He joined the Air Force on June 26, 1940 and served with 148 Squadron RAF in Egypt, Germany and Malta. He was killed in action on April 25, 1942.
