35 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BEDORE, John L. John was born in Orillia, Ontario on May 30, 1913. He enlisted with the Royal Montreal Regiment on October 6, 1939 and served in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany until his discharge on September 15, 1945. John worked in the mining industry and was a member of Marmora Legion Branch 237 for ten years prior to his death on November 7, 1983. BENEDETTI, Aldene J. “Al” Al was born on July 13, 1925 in Cochrane, Ontario. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 12, 1943 in Lachine, Quebec, transferred to Moncton, New Brunswick in December 1945 and served as Leading Aircraftman at Goose-Bay, Labrador with 164 Transport Squadron. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the Victory Medal and the Defence Medal and was discharged on August 26, 1946. Upon his return to civilian life, Al enrolled in a trade school in Hamilton, Ontario then worked for the Railroad in Timmins, Ontario. He moved to Kapuskasing in 1947 where he retired in 1986 and still resides there. Al has been a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for sixty years. BÉLANGER, Gérald Gérald was born in Cornwall, Ontario on March 27, 1935. He joined the Army in 1950 and served in Korea with the Royal 22nd Regiment (Van Doos) until his discharge in 1953. Gérald died on September 23, 1972.
