111 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FRANKLIN, George George was born in Liverpool, England on August 19, 1878. After coming to Canada, George enlisted in the Army at the age of 37, at Owen Sound, Ontario on December 13, 1915. He served with the 147th Grey Overseas Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. After his training, he sailed for England aboard SS Olympic on November 20, 1916, leaving behind his wife Christina and four children. Arriving in England, he transferred to the 58th Battalion in order to proceed to France on August 1, 1917. He arrived with his unit in the field for combat action on August 22, 1917. During the fighting at Passchendaele, George was wounded on October 26, 1917, and returned to the Military hospital in Plymouth, England. Eventually, George was transferred to the Granville Canadian Special Hospital and onto No. 5 Canadian General Hospital in Kirkdale, Liverpool. George returned to Canada on September 24, 1918, where he was discharged on November 19, 1918. His injuries had made him medically unfit for further service. George passed away on December 2, 1939, at the age of 61. FRYER (SALT), Florence Florence was born in Acton, Ontario on May 13, 1925. She enlisted in the Navy (Regular Force) in 1945 and served on HMCS Peregrine Land Base in Canada. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 197 in Acton, where she was a resident for many years. Florence passed away on February 2, 2009. FRASER, Stanley Kenneth “Stan” Reverend Stan was born on February 24, 1942, in Windsor, Ontario. In 1960, Stan joined the Naval Reserve as a Naval Cadet and had his basic training in Cornwallis. In 1963, he was commissioned Sub Lieutenant and in 1965 was promoted to Lieutenant. From 1964 to 1967, he was attached to Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment. Stan was on the Primary Reserve list from 1967 to 1977. In 1978, he joined the HMCS Hunter and in 1983 was promoted to Lieutenant Commander. Stan was appointed Chaplain in 1987. In 1996, he was appointed Command Chaplain. He was responsible for all Naval Reserve Chaplains in Canada. Stan retired in 1998. During his career, he was a school principal for 26 years and a Parish Priest for twenty years. Stan also served as Chaplain for both La Salle Police andWindsor and La Salle Fire Departments. Stan has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for over fifty years and is a proud member of Branch 644.
