151 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HOGUE, Jacques Lucien Joseph Jacques was born on July 28, 1938, in Shawinigan, Quebec. In October 1957, he went to Montreal and joined the Air Force. He was nineteen years old. His basic training was in Saint Jean, Quebec; Aylmer, Ontario and Namao, Alberta. He worked in logistics and spent time in Rivers, Manitoba; Penhold, Alberta; Montreal and Ottawa. He also spent six months in Egypt. Jacques was married and raised four children. He was released on December 25, 1986. After 29 years, he retired from the Air Force and soon after went back to Edmonton and worked as a corrections officer at a prison for the next five years. In 1991, Jacques moved to Windsor, Ontario and now is enjoying his retirement. HOLTBY, Dennis “Paul” Paul was born in Toronto, Ontario on November 29, 1941. He joined the Army (Regular Force) on October 1, 1960, as a Radio Operator, soon progressing to the top-secret Communicator Research (291) trade. His many domestic postings, Ladner, Masset, Petawawa, Leitrim and Ottawa, pointed to his exceptional abilities to perform in isolated environments. Ten times he would receive the dreaded call to serve in Alert, NWT, the Forces’ most northern, most isolated outpost; for this and showing extraordinary dedication, Paul received the Special Serve Medal. Paul also served abroad twice in Egypt and twice in Bermuda. He retired on August 17, 1994, as a Master Warrant Officer. Paul met Gail McCafferty in Halifax and the two married in 1972. In 1987, when the couple settled in Steeleys Bay, Paul joined The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 491 and remained a member there until his death in 2022. HOLLERAN, Lawrance James Lawrance was born in St. Catharines, Ontario on June 2, 1924. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in May 1941 and served with 83 Battery, 23 Field Regiment (SP) in England during World War II. He was discharged in January 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion St. Catharines Branch 24 for twenty years. Lawrance passed away on December 7, 2012.
