163 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JACKSON, Kenneth F. “Ken” Ken was born on May 20, 1926, in Blackstock, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1941, underage at the time. He served in transportation and remained in the service until the end of the conflict in 1945. Ken returned to Port Perry following the war and was a successful businessman, entrepreneur and founder of Flamingo Pastries Limited and Mother Jackson’s Open Kitchens Limited. He was also a founding member of the Rotary Club of Port Perry and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Port Perry Branch 419. He could always be counted on to support not only the efforts of The Legion but many other community initiatives, from building new ball diamonds, a new hospital and library, to quietly helping those in need struggling to find their way in life. His favourite charity was Big Brothers. Ken passed away on November 10, 1995. JACKSON, Ryan William Ryan was born in Guelph, Ontario on September 1, 1984. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in November 2011 and served with 22nd Dragoon Squadron in Afghanistan. He was wounded in the knee. Ryan was released in April 2013. He has been a resident of Acton, Ontario for 32 years. JACKSON, Orval N. Orval was born in Balsam, Ontario on December 3, 1915. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1942 and served as a bomb reader and worked in the dairy. He was also valet to a C.O. after serving in Dauphin, Manitoba and Fort St. John, British Columbia, Corporal Jackson was discharged in 1945. He passed away on December 19, 1988.
