179 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND KINGSLAND, Howard Rawlin Howard was born in Montreal, Quebec on October 4, 1921. He enlisted on October 6, 1942, with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and began as a writer with a probation period of October 6, 1942, until December 4, 1942, when he was transferred to Toronto (York) as official writer until August 14, 1943. His assignment inYork continued until July 18, 1944, when he was transferred to Port Arthur until June 3, 1945. He was posted to Victoria, BC on June 4, 1945, until June 29, 1945, when he was returned to Port Arthur. Howard was demobilized on September 24, 1945, and received his release on November 7, 1945. After the war, Howard moved to Toronto in 1953. KIRBY, Wesley Harold “Wes” Wes was born in Prescott, Ontario on October 21, 1929. He joined the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in January 1951 and served in Canada, Germany, Rafia and Ismailia in Egypt until his discharge in November 1975. Wes retired to Brantford, Ontario and later moved to Delhi. He was a founding member of the RCEME Association of Niagara, LAD 103, holding the position of Vice President for several years. He was also a member of and Past President of Major Walter Barnard Legion Branch 125. Wes passed away on June 9, 2013. KINNEAR, Stephen James Stephen was born in Ottawa, Ontario on July 12, 1949. He enlisted in the Army (Reserve Force) with the Lanark and Renfrew Scottish Regiment in September 1967 and served with the 2 RCR in Soest, Germany for six months. He was released in November 1969. As a child, his father was in the service, and they lived in many military PMQs. He is a two-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kanata Branch 638.
