195 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LAWRENCE, Keith Keith was born in Ottawa on January 26, 1965. In 1983 he joined the Regular Forces (Army) in the Royal Canadian Regiment where he specialized in AntiArmour and Psyops. During his time in the regiment, he travelled to the following locations on operations and duty: Cyprus, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Norway, Denmark, United Kingdom, Congo, Uganda, and Afghanistan until his release from service as Colonel in 2013 after thirty years. His fondest memory of serving was organizing the Royal tour for Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1991. Keith is the Master of ceremonies at Remembrance Day and Canada Day ceremonies and parades held by Branch 82. Keith is currently a resident of Port Credit, Ontario where he has lived for the last eleven years. He had been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 26 years and is currently a member of Branch 82 in Port Credit where he has held the post of sports officer. LAWRENSON, Stella Stella was born on October 1, 1923, inWindsor, Ontario. She enlisted in the Armed Forces (Regular Force) in September 1942 and served in the Canadian Women’s Army Corp. She was posted in London, Ontario at Wolseley Barracks which was later renamed CFB London in 1966. After working in the QM stores, she was discharged in December 1943. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12. After marrying George Cookson, she raised five children and passed away on November 22, 2005. LAWRENCE, Peter Peter was born in Dundee, Scotland on December 4, 1937. At the age of 21, in 1958, he joined the Royal Air Force. After basic training, he trained as a radar technician and was stationed at RAF Leuchars close to St. Andrews in Scotland. While there, the RAF station was the home of No. 43 Squadron RAF equipped with the Hawker Hunter FGH 9 and No. 23 Squadron equipped with the Gloster Javelin and Westland Whirlwind Helicopters. As a senior technician and five years at RAF Leuchars (1963), he decided to leave the Air Force. In 1964, he immigrated to Canada with his family where they set up home in Mississauga and currently lives. He often thinks back on the comradery and the sports he played, especially football while serving. In 1965, Peter became a member of The Royal Canadian Legion and is currently a 58-year member of Port Credit Branch 82 where he serves on the executive committee as sports officer.
