45 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BOEHLER, Konrad J. Konrad was born in Leamington, Ontario on September 8, 1958. In 1971, he joined the 2810 Cadet until 1976. At the age of eighteen, he went to Windsor and joined the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment. His basic training was in Windsor where he trained for the Infantry. After his release in 1979, Konrad went to work as a Field Engineer at the General Motors Transmission Plant. Also in 1979, Konrad became the Commanding Officer of the 2810 Cadet Corp until 1982. Konrad also went to work for Siemens Automotive for the next seventeen years. He is married and has two children. Konrad is a proud member of Metropolitan Branch 594 of The Royal Canadian Legion where he has served for the past 44 years. BOORMAN, Reginald George Reg was born in Toronto, Ontario on February 27, 1918. He enlisted in the Air Force and served with the Reserve Force from 1939 to 1945 and with the Regular Force from 1948 to 1968. Reg wanted to be a pilot, but sadly his dream never came about. Talented with his hands and mechanically inquisitive, Reg became an auto mechanic. His trade was an M.S.E. Technician. His base assignments during his career amounted to at least nine. He served three years in France with #2 Fighter Wing, Grostenquin. Temporary assignments sent him to a number of others, Armstrong, and the most notable being Kingston. Armed Forces unification was taking place and he, with two other NCO’s, helped re-write the training manuals for the Armed Forces automotive trades. He retired as an instructor from military service in 1968 but did not enjoy working in the civilian work environment. He joined the D.N.D. civilian service and returned to Camp Borden where he became an advisor/trainer at the RCEME repair facility. He retired in 1984 having served for a combined 41 years. Reg was married for 75 years and had two children. Reg passed away on April 16, 2018. BOOKER, Phil Phil was born on March 23, 1950, in Windsor, Ontario. In 1968, at the age of eighteen, he joined the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment, reserve force. He subsequently served with the 21st Service Battalion, 23rd Service Battalion, 11th Field Regiment Royal Artillery and finally with the Toronto Scottish Regiment. During his postings, he specialized in Logistics and Operations until his release in 1979 where he left with a commission as Lieutenant, after working his way through the ranks. During his service, he provided aid to civilian defence during the snowstorm of 1978. Phil has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 38 years and has held multiple offices like Branch Poppy Chair, Treasurer, 1st Vice President, and is currently the Parade Marshal for Port Credit Branch 82. As a member of the Canadian Army Cadets, he was privileged to be promoted to the rank of Cadet Lt/Col commanding one of the largest cadet corps in Canada with 1,100 cadets on parade, winning the Lord Strathcona Cup for that year.
