67 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CAMBRIDGE, Robert Robert was born on February 26, 1884, in London, England. After immigrating to Canada, he joined the Canadian Army (Regular Force) in London, Ontario on February 19, 1915, and became part of the 142nd (London’s Own) Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. At enlistment, Robert and Mary had eight children. He embarked on the SS Southland on November 1, 1916, and disembarked in Shorncliffe, United Kingdom on November 11, 1916. Monthly pay amounted to $52 a month, $22/month plus $30/month in separation allowance. The 23rd Reserve Battalion would absorb the 142nd Battalion. He spent time in Camp Dibgate, West Sandling, and Bramshott. He was promoted to Acting Corporal on November 15, 1916. He then joined the 4th Reserve Battalion on January 4, 1917, and on June 7, 1917, he joined the Canadian Forestry Corps in Sunningdale. He sailed back to Canada on the Empress of Britain on February 17, 1919, and was honourably discharged on June 11, 1919, with the rank of Sergeant. CAMILLERI, Christopher “Chris” Chris was born in Mississauga, Ontario on July 20, 1983. In 2004, at the age of 21, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and after basic training he trained as an Aircraft Systems Technician posted to Greenwood, Nova Scotia and in 2012 changed trades to Air Weapons Technician and has since gone on to work with (CFSATE) Canadian Armed Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering as a course director/instructor with the current (as of 2020) rank of Sergeant. When talking to Chris about serving, he is very much aware of the selfworth it’s given him, being able to work with a team with the same goals and objectives and dedication to the cause. Chris is married to Carla who is also a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, and they have three children currently living in Base Borden, Ontario. CAMILLERI, Carla Carla was born in Summerside, PEI on May 30, 1984. In 2009, at the age of 24, she enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. She currently (2023) is a Master Corporal in the RCMS (Royal Canadian Medical Service) and is stationed at Base Borden, Ontario at the CanadianArmed Forces Health Training centre as a Medical Technician. There she trains future medical technicians. While Carla has been at Base Borden, other than training, and Army Exercises, she was involved in OP Laser during the Covid Pandemic. During Op Laser she was deployed to longterm care facilities in Ontario as military support during covid. Carla also participated in Op Vector, which helped the Government administer Covid Vaccinations to members of the public along with the Armed Forces. Carla married Christopher Camilleri (RCAF) on July 9, 2016, and they have three children. What drives Carla,— the ability to teach and pass on her wealth of knowledge to future Med Techs so they can support the CAF in the future.
