Military Service Recognition Book

7 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND A MESSAGE FROMTHE CHAIR It is hard to believe that we are publishingVolume X of our Military Service Recognition Book. And I am very proud to have been the Chair of this program for all of these ten years. It has been both an honour and a privilege and an experience that I will not forget. During these past ten years, we have published close to 7,000 Veteran biographies and photographs in our books of Remembrance highlighting the service our Veterans within the Province of Ontario have contributed to our country in giving us the freedom that we enjoy today. Thanks to the terrific advertising support that we have received over these past ten years, as well as very generous individual donations, our Command has also received close to two million dollars during this time. We truly appreciate all of the support that we have received which has allowed us to support several Veteran Transition Programs that we at Ontario Command support. As for Veteran submissions, we still have a lot of work to do as the numbers that we have received over the past two years have been dwindling. We would ask that if you are a Veteran or a family member of a Veteran, that you take the time to submit a submission form and photograph to your local Legion Branch for publication into one of our books of Remembrance. With an estimated total of 223,400 Veterans living within the Province of Ontario, and many, many more Veterans who unfortunately have passed away, there are still many Veterans and family members of Veterans that could have a Veterans bio and photograph published in one of our books. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all of our Branches within our Command who have worked diligently in providing Veteran submissions for our books over the past ten years. For it has been through their efforts and the combined contributions of our Zones, Districts, and Command that has enabled us to showcase many of our Veterans within the Province of Ontario. Your dedication, support, and cooperation towards the success of this very important program is certainly appreciated. I ask that you continue to keep up the good work. Special thanks to our two Provincial Coordinators Carolyn McCaul and Mary Ann Goheen, our District Coordinators, District Commanders, Zone Commanders, the staff at Ontario Command, our Provincial President, members of our Ladies’Auxiliary, and all of my fellow Senior Elected Officers of Ontario Command. It is only through everyone’s continued efforts that we will continue to be successful in telling the story about Veterans in communities across this great Province of ours. We will Remember them!
