111 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DESJARDINS, Guy Guy was born on July 23, 1933 in Van Kleek Hill, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in December 1953 and completed his basic training and vehicle technicians’ course in St. Jean, QC before being transferred to various bases in Quebec, Ontario and the North West Territories. In 1960, he was sent to 3 Wing in Zweibrucken, Germany. Upon his return to Canada he was promoted to Corporal while posted in Holberg, BC in 1965 and then to Master Corporal while in St. Margaret, NB in 1972. He was transferred to UNEFE Egypt for a tour of UN duty and promoted to Sergeant in 1975. He returned to Canada and served in St. Hubert and Montreal. Guy was awarded the United Nations Medal, the Peacekeeping Medal and the NATO Medal. He was released in 1982 and worked for DND as an inspector in Bombardier, Valcourt, QC for another 11 years. Guy has been a member of Claude Nunney V C Memorial Legion Branch 544 for 22 years. DIKE, John G. John was born on June 5, 1940 in Kirkland Lake, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on November 5, 1959 and served with the Algonquin Regiment. He was discharged on August 31, 1965. John has been a member of Millbrook Legion Branch 402 for 44 years. DEVEREAUX, James Brian Brian was born in Channel, NL on October 1, 1960. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on May 3, 1979 and served as a combat support radio operator becoming an information system technician with the Communications Electronics and Engineering branch. He served in Cyprus and Bosnia on peacekeeping missions. Brian spent his last six months at 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron on a vocation rehabilitation program to assist medical released soldiers. He was discharged after 35 years of service. Brian has been a member of Pembroke Legion Branch 72 for 5 years.
