113 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DIXON, Donald W. Donald was born in Elkhorn, MB on December 21, 1925. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army in 1943 and served with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders in Belgium during World War II. Donald was discharged in 1945 but stayed an extra year to help with the clean ups. DOTZENROTH, Norman Edward Norman was born on September 26, 1915 in Waterloo, ON to Henry and Ada (Gildner) Dotzenroth. He had one older brother and two younger sisters. He received his schooling in Kitchener/Waterloo and took Business Management at the University of Western Ontario. Norman joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in August 1943 and was sent to Moncton, NB where he trained for aircraft engine repair before being sent to St. Thomas, ON for an advanced engineering course. Leading Aircraftman Dotzenroth was then transferred to Trenton, ON where he worked on aircraft engines until his discharge in April 1945. He married Isabel Totske in 1942 and after the war they had three daughters. Norman worked at BF Goodrich for 44 years and is presently living at Winston Park Nursing and Retirement Home in Kitchener. Norman passed away on August 12, 2015 in Kitchener. DOTZENROTH, Hugo H. Hugo was born in June 1920 in Montreal, QC to Norman John Dotzenroth and Phoebe Caroline (Krumpelt) Dotzenroth. Due to a job, the family moved to Woodstock, ON in 1925 where Hugo went to School. In 1935, Hugo’s father died suddenly and his mother packed up and moved to Kitchener, ON. Upon finishing school in Waterloo, Hugo joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and became a training pilot. On March 20th, 1943, he flew out of the air base just outside of Montreal with a student and crashed, killing both. Hugo was 22 at the time of his death. He is buried at the St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery in Kitchener, ON.
