137 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FERGUSON, Gerald R. Gerald was born on December 13, 1944 in Sudbury, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on June 8, 1961. He received his basic training in Chilliwack, BC and was posted there for 22 months before transferring to Camp Petawawa where he attended two summer concentration camps in Gagetown, NB and spent some time at Meaford and Camp Borden assisting in an Officers Training Camp. He was trained as a combat engineer and technical storeman and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers. After his release on August 6, 1966, he worked for the paper mill in Espanola as a senior shift supervisor. He married and had two children. Gerald has been an active member of Massey Legion Branch 432 for 47 years and has served as District H Commander. FERRIS, John Sherman John was born on December 30, 1919 in Kincardine, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and served with No.78 Squadron in Western Europe during World War II as a rear gunner in a Halifax Bomber. John was killed in action when his plane crashed in Norden, Holland in 1943 and is buried at the Hanover (Limmer) War Cemetery in Germany. FERRIS, David Lloyd Lloyd was born on June 6, 1922 in the Woodhouse Township, ON to Clarence Edkar Ferris and Elora Jackson. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1941 and served with the Royal Canadian Artillery 41st Battalion in Continental Europe, the United Kingdom and the Central Mediterranean during World War II. He was discharged in 1946. In 1950, he married Jean Elizabeth Swick and had one son. Lloyd worked Lake Erie and Northern Railway at the Simcoe station as an operator from 1946 to 1961. After his time with the Northern Railway, he was employed by Charles M. Wilson Motors Lincoln-Mercury dealer as a salesman and worked there until the company was sold in 1984. He then moved to Blue Star Ford in Simcoe for two years before his retirement. After retiring from the automobile business, Lloyd assisted his son at his business, Ferris Funeral Home in Simcoe. He was a member of Simcoe Legion Branch 79 for 30 years. Lloyd passed away on October 3, 2009 and is buried in Walsh United Cemetery.
