143 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FISK, Norman Edward Norman was born in the Greenock Township on March 20, 1896. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on May 17, 1918 and served with the Canadian Infantry, 1st Battalion, Western Ontario Regiment. He trained in Suffolk County, England and served overseas during World War I. After the war, Norman was a farmer and worked for many years as Superintendent of the Walkerton Cemetery. He relocated to Harriston, ON in the mid-1980s. He was a member of the Walkerton Legion 102. Norman passed away on February 17, 1989. FLETCHER, Frederick Frederick was born in Chapel-en-le-Frith, England on November 17, 1886 to James and Mary Jane Fletcher. He came to Canada to work and, two years later, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in July 1915 and served with the 87th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in England during World War I. He married Annie Cooper before leaving for action. Lance Corporal Fletcher was killed in action on September 2, 1918 during an attack on enemy positions east of Dury, France and is buried in the Dury Mill British Cemetery. FITZPATRICK, Maurice J. Maurice was born in Allumette Island, QC in April 1921. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on May 5, 1944 and served with the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps in the United Kingdom and Europe. He was discharged on March 21, 1946. Corporal Fitzpatrick was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and bar. He was a member of Simcoe Legion Branch 79. Maurice passed away on February 25, 2014.
