153 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GALBRAITH, Nelson Douglas Nelson was born on May 30, 1895 in Providence Bay, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on November 9, 1917 and served with the 1st Central Ontario Regiment in France during World War I. Nelson passed away on December 28, 1967. GANDER, George W.J. George was born on August 22, 1910 in Niagara Falls, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on January 9, 1924 and served with various regiments in England, Belgium, Holland, and Germany during World War II. He disembarked on the continent on June 15, 1944 and was wounded in action on June 29. He served as Canadian Officer on loan to the British Army and, following recovery of wounds, returned to Canadian Army and served in Holland, and Germany. After the surrender of Germany, he served in the Army of Occupation. George continued to serve in various regiments of the Canadian Army until May 1962. He was a member of HT Church Legion Branch 24, General Nelles Legion Branch 124 and Centennial Legion Branch 612. Captain George Gander passed away on December 27, 1979. GALE, George R. George was born on October 13, 1930 in St Thomas, ON. He was an air cadet before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1948 and serving in the Elgin Regiment. From 1961 to 1962 he was instructing staff. He was discharged in 1971. He was a member of Lord Elgin Legion Branch 41 from 1993 to 2002 and a member of Last Post Legion Branch 410. He was part of the Navy Reserve from 1971 to 1973.
