155 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GANDER, William John William was born on March 19, 1885 in Niagara Falls, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1901 and served with the 19th St. Catharines Regiment, the 19th Lincoln and Welland Regiment, and the 81st Battalion CEF in France and England during World War I. He was wounded in action in Passchendaele, France on November 13, 1917. Lieutenant Colonel Gander was discharged on October 14, 1931. He was awarded the British War Medal, the Victory Medal 1914-1918, the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers Decoration. William was Commanding Officer of the Lincoln Regiment from November 9, 1927 to October 14, 1931. After his service, he worked as a light keeper at the Pt Weller lighthouse in St Catharines from 1931 to 1946. William passed away on May 22, 1948. GARRISON, Glenn E. Glenn was born on September 20, 1925 in Sarnia, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on May 10, 1943 and served with No. 428 Squadron in England during World War II. He trained in Mont-Joli, QC and arrived at Bournemouth, England in November 1943 as an upper and rear air gunner. He completed 46 operational night and day trips over France and Germany and flew two trips over Caen and Falaise on D-Day. Flying Officer Garrison returned to Canada in October 1944 and served as an instructor of gunnery. Glenn passed away on October 18, 2012. GAPP, Robert P. Robert was born on November 23, 1924 in Toronto, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on May 5, 1943. He was on convoy duty on several ships in the North Atlantic during World War II, and was discharged on October 24, 1945. He was a member of Milton Wesley Legion Branch 426 for 25 years. Robert passed away on May 28, 2013.
