He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on December 30, 1915 using his older sister’s year of birth in order to join. He served with the 2nd Canadian Pioneer Battalion of the Royal Canadian Engineers in England and France during World War I and was gassed during active duty. Following his discharge in 1919, he went on to work for the Inco Mining Company. He was a member of Copper Cliff Legion Branch 224. George passed away on July 13, 1945. GOLDEN, Charles R. Charles was born on February 13, 1892 in Southampton, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on December 29, 1915 and served with the 160th Battalion, 2nd Machine Gun Brigade in France and Germany during World War I. After his discharge, he was part owner of the Golden Fish Company. He was a member of Tobermory Legion Branch 290. Charles passed away in 1967. GILPIN, Joseph E. Joseph was born on May 9, 1899 in Copper Cliff, ON. Before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Army on May 30, 1918, he worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway as a machinist. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers in England and France during World War I and was gassed during active duty. After his discharge in 1919, he returned to Canada and went to work as a machinist for Inco at the Copper Cliff smelter. He was a member of Copper Cliff Legion Branch 224. Joseph passed away on May 30, 1948.
