175 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HALL, Reginald L. Reginald was born on June 17, 1938 in Waterford, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1957 and served with the Royal Canadian Regiment for three years. He completed parachute jumps in Edmonton, AB before being discharged in 1959. Reginald died in a car accident on the Manitoba border on September 10, 1967 at the age of 29. HARE, Lloyd P. W. Lloyd was born on July 5, 1922 in Dayton, ON. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Essex Scottish Regiment in Belgium, France, Holland, and Germany during World War II. He went overseas in 1941 and was on active duty after D-Day. After the war, he married Alice Cromack of Glasgow. He was a member of Thessalon Legion Branch 182. Lloyd passed away in 1994. HAMILTON, Charles Charles was born in Toronto, ON in 1889 to Margaret and Charles Hamilton. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and served with 7 Machine Gun Company, Canadian Machine Gun Corps in France during World War I. The commune of Albert was held by the French against the German advance on the Somme in 1914. It passed into British hands in the summer of 1915; and the first fighting in July 1916 is known as the Battle of Albert, 1916. It was captured by the Germans on April 26, 1918, and recaptured by the allied forces on August 22. By this time it had been completely destroyed by artillery fire. Private Hamilton was killed in action during these events on October 9, 1916 at the age of 27. He is buried at the Albert Communal Cemetery Extension in France. Charles’ medals are displayed with dignity and honour at Fred Gies Legion Branch 50 in Kitchener, ON.
