191 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HODGSON, Arthur G. “Art” Art was born in McGillivray Township, ON on November 29, 1916. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army (Service #A60189) at Wolseley Barracks in London, ON in 1940 as an Infantryman. After completing his basic and trade training, he was posted to Camp Borden. Art’s voice was very unique which eventually landed him the position of Drill Sergeant at Camp Borden. He also served overseas in England and the Netherlands. He loved the Dutch people and was amazed how a dirt farmer was treated like a king in Holland. His medals include the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45. Art was honourably discharged in 1945 at the rank of Corporal. He passed away on November 23, 1999 at the age of 83. Art was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion and a Meritorious Service Medal recipient. HOGG, Leon J. Leon was born in North London, England on August 1, 1924. He joined the Air Force in November 1942 and served with No. 115 and No. 355 Squadrons during World War II. He completed 30 bombing missions over Europe with the No. 115 Squadron and 15 bombing missions in India with No. 355 Squadron. He was discharged in October 1946. Leon immigrated to Canada in 1952. HOGG (VALENTINE), J. Daphne Daphne was born in Brentwood, Essex, England on February 14, 1923. She enlisted in the Air Force on April 7, 1942 and served with the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force in England and Scotland during World War II. She read maps and codes for No. 115 Squadron Intelligence Office. She was discharged on August 17, 1945. Daphne immigrated to Canada in 1952.
