199 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND IVINEY, Arthur T. Arthur was born on June 28, 1924 in Toronto, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 30, 1943 and served with the No. 6 Group Bomber Command in England during World War II. He was posted overseas in Yorkshire, England and remained there until the war in Europe was winding down, at which point he was transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force headquarters in London where the buzz bombs were still falling. After the war in Europe ended, he was transferred back home to Canada and was subsequently discharged on June 14, 1946. Arthur has been a member of Orillia Legion Branch 34 for 21 years. He received the Bomber Command Bar which acknowledges the vital contribution to the Allied Victory of World War II. JEFFERY, Wilfred E. Wilfred was born on January 21, 1925 in Bayside, ON, his father was John Frederick Jeffery, who served in World War I. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on September 10, 1943 and completed his basic training at Manning Depot Toronto. He was trained in the administration field and after serving at the RCAF Headquarters in Trenton, ON and Charlottetown, PEI, he sailed from Halifax, NS to Liverpool, England. He eventually transferred to Torquay, England which was a repatriation depot for Royal Canadian Air Force personnel returning to Canada. Wilfred was responsible for administrating proper documentation to airmen returning home. He sailed from Odiham, England returning to Canada. He was discharged on August 9, 1946 at the rank of Leading Aircraftsman. Wilfred was awarded the Defense Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, and the War Medal 1939-45. JEFFERY, John Frederick John was born on March 12, 1897 in Sydney, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army at the age of 20 on February 9, 1917 to serve in World War I. He was assigned to the 254th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force and was stationed in Trenton, ON and, eventually, he was posted to Kingston, ON where he became an instructor in bayonet fighting and physical training. John was discharged on November 29, 1918.
