21 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ADAMSON (VIBERT), Victoria E. Victoria was born on June 25, 1926 in Petit Shippagan, NB. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on January 19, 1945 and served with the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service under the name of Vibert during World War II. She was discharged on April 9, 1946. Her medals include the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the 193945 War Medal. Victoria has been a member of Sir Sam Hughes Legion Branch 67 for 21 years. ALCHIN, William R. William was born on May 5, 1923 in Oshawa, ON. He devoted his youth to the Navy and the Merchant Service. He was with the Oshawa Naval Cadets prior to World War II and served with the Elm Park out of Halifax, NS throughout the war, primarily in the North Atlantic. Following his discharge he married Jean Hines. He worked in transportation for General Motors until his retirement. William passed away on January 31, 1994. AIKEN, Ross W. Ross was born on July 30, 1926 in Allenford, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on July 29, 1944 and served with the CTT Corps and the New Brunswick Rangers as a camp bugler during World War II. He was discharged on April 26, 1946. He took the Aiken Brothers Hardware Store in Allenford in 1945. He received the Golden Hammer Award for sixty years of owning and operating a Home Hardware Store. Ross has been a member of Tara Legion Branch 383 for sixty years.
