39 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BEATTIE, John D. John was born on July 6, 1921 in Toronto, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on March 28, 1942. He served with the No. 212 Squadron as a radar mechanic during World War II in England, India and Burma. He was discharged on March 4, 1946 and served with the Toronto Police Force from 1946-1952. He then worked on gyroscopes and guidance systems at Littons Systems until he had to move south where the weather was much better for his health. John has been a member of U.J. (Joe) Waters Legion Branch 136 for six years. BEDARD, Henri L. Henri was born on September 26, 1962 in Kapuskasing, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on October 21, 1980. He served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and the Military Postal Service in Germany. Master Corporal Bedard was discharged in October 2000 and was awarded the Canadian Forces’ Decoration, the Cypress Medal and the Germany Medal. BEAVEN, Edward Edward was born in West Harnham, England on May 7, 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in April 1941. He served as a wireless operator and a flight mechanic in Libya, Syria, Egypt, Turkey and Palestine during World War II. He was discharged in 1946 and was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Africa Star, the Defense Medal and the Victory Medal. He was a member of Tottenham Legion Branch 329 for 53 years. Edward passed away on February 18, 2013.
