Military Service Recognition Book

5 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT My Comrades all – welcome to our second issue of our Military Service Recognition Book for Ontario Provincial Command, Royal Canadian Legion 2015. I personally want to express our sincerest thanks to all of you who contributed into making our first Military Service Recognition Book a complete success. With the many submissions through your Legion Branches of your pictures, bios and stories of your "heroes" towards this great publication; well, you exceeded our goals and expectations. You all have graciously filled the pages of our first edition and now we look forward into embarking on our second publication. Our book of Remembrance honours those who have served both past and present and especially recognizes those who paid the supreme sacrifice in the many conflicts abroad in foreign lands. Unfortunately, our soldiers continue to pay the ultimate sacrifice even here on home soil as we all witnessed the events of October 2014 when Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was ruthlessly shot at point blank range at our Nations National War Memorial and a week earlier Patrice Vincent was killed in a targeted hit and run accident in Saint-Jean Sur Richelieu, Quebec. WE WILL REMEMBER THEM Again on behalf of Ontario Command I would like to personally thank our Chairman Comrade Ron Goebel, our submission coordinators, Carolyn McCaul and Mary Ann Goheen and our Command Staff who all have worked extremely hard on our Military Service Recognition Booklet to make it the success that it is today. Thank you also to Fenety Marketing for all of their help in the production of this permanent record of remembrance. Yours in Comradeship, Brian D. Weaver Provincial President "They served till death! Why not we?"
