John was born in Liverpool, England on May 22, 1898. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on December 31, 1915. He served with the 139th Overseas Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Forces and the 75th Battalion in England and France during World War I. He was discharged on September 16, 1919. He was a member of Cobourg Legion Branch 133 for over 40 years. John passed away on January 28, 1983. COWIN, James F. James was born on November 25, 1923 in Cobourg, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on February 18, 1943 and served with the Royal Regiment of Canada in England, France and Germany during World War II. He was discharged on November 15, 1945.
