He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on September 2, 1917 and served with the 256th Railway Construction Battalion in England and France during World War I. He was discharged on January 2, 1919. Robert died in Cobourg of a war related disease on February 25, 1920. COX (LAFFERTY), Margaret J. Margaret was born in Glasgow, Scotland on July 13, 1920. She joined the Royal Canadian Army and served during World War II. Margaret passed away on December 30, 2001. COWLEY, Charles H. Charles was born in Chiswick, Middlesex, England on February 2, 1872 and immigrated to Canada early in the next century. He settled in Stratford, ON where he worked as a boiler maker. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on January 18, 1916. His attestations papers indicated he had previously served four years in the Royal Garrison Artillery. Charles served as a medic with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force during World War I and returned to work as a boiler maker after the war. Charles passed away in the 1950s.
