95 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CRAWFORD, Thomas C. “Ted” Ted was born on January 18, 1914 in Espanola, ON. He joined the Royal Canadian Army on October 5, 1943 and served with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada, A Company in England and Holland during World War II. Signalman Crawford was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the King George Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, and the France and Germany Star. Ted was killed in action on April 6, 1945 in Holland and was awarded the Medal of Remembrance posthumously for the Liberation of Holland and the Canada Medal for the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Holland. Ted is buried in the Holten Cemetery in Holland. CROCKETT, Frank Frank was born in Belfast, Ireland on August 27, 1907. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on August 5, 1940 and served during World War II. He was discharged on June 15, 1942. He was a member of Major Walter Bernard Legion Branch 125 for 41 years. Frank passed away on June 13, 1987. CRAWFORD-BARRER, Joan M. Joan, daughter of Thomas Crawford, was born on January 5, 1938 in Kapuskasing, ON. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on November 15, 1961 and served with the Algonquin Regiment, A Company. She was discharged on May 5, 1965 and joined the Royal Canadian Air Cadets in April 1977. She received her Canada Decoration in November 1985 and also received the “One in a Million Flag Challenge” Medal for her contributions to Canada. Joan has been a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for 34 years.
