He enlisted in the Army on March 25, 1943 serving as a driver/mechanic with the Argyll Sutherland Highlanders of Canada in England, Germany, Holland, and France during World War II. He was discharged on March 12, 1946 and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal and War Medal. After the war, Jim returned to his hometown and owned and operated a successful retail hardware store with his wife. He was a Life Member of Harry Wray Legion Branch 302 for 65 years. Jim passed away on November 25, 2013. COLLING, Gordon C. Gordon was born on April 30, 1919. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Perth Regiment in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. He was a member of Simcoe Legion Branch 79. Gordon passed away in 1983. COLEMAN, Bertram “Bert” Bert was born on October 20, 1915 in Arran Township, Bruce County, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in March 1942. He served with the No. 23 Elementary Flying Training School during World War II. He was given a compassionate discharged on January 19, 1945 to help his mother with the farm. He was a member of Tara Legion Branch 383 for 40 years. Bert passed away on December 5, 1987.
