117 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CUTTS, Ivan W. Ivan was born on July 26, 1923 in Sudbury, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in 1941. He served with the 4th Canadian General Hospital and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada. He was wounded at Veen, Germany and was captured. Sadly, his wounds developed gangrene and he lost his lower left leg. He was discharged in 1946 and retrained as a welder. He moved to Timmins, ON to work in the mines. He was a hoistman and a shaftsman. He married Thelma and they raised two daughters. Ivan has been a member of Fred Gies Legion Branch 50 for 68 years. DALY, Eva I. Eva was born on July 17, 1923 in Tobermory, ON. She enlisted in the Army in February 1943 and served with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps during World War II. She trained in Kitchener, Toronto and Ottawa. She trained as a telephone operator and worked in Kingston for the Royal Canadian Signal Corps. She was discharged on November 23, 1945. Upon returning to civilian life, she worked at Westinghouse, in Hamilton, ON, threading tubes for the Army. She also worked at Bell in Hamilton. She and her husband operated Mountain Trout Camp after moving to the Bruce Peninsula. They retired to Tobermory, ON. Eva was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, Rifleman 1st Class, Marksman and Expert Marksman Medals. CYR, Paul Emile Paul was born in Gascon, QC on July 17, 1924. He enlisted in the Army on June 23, 1943. He served with the 1st Canadian Infantry Corps in the Mediterranean area during World War II. He was wounded on May 24, 1944. He was discharged on March 18, 1946. He was a member of Harry Searle Legion Branch 5. Paul passed away on December 31, 1997.
