129 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DERRINGTON, Donald Donald was born on January 12, 1925 in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on July 10, 1943. He served with the Queen’s Own Rifles and the Canadian Infantry Reinforcement Unit in Aldershot, England, Holland and Germany during World War II. He was discharged on September 12, 1947. DESLAURIERS, Raymond Raymond was born on November 2, 1928 in Kapuskasing, ON. He enlisted in the Army on May 12, 1948. He served with the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps in Canada, Korea, Japan, and Egypt but eventually transferred to a maintenance corps, ending up a storeman clerk. Sergeant Raymond was discharged on January 29, 1966. He was awarded the Korea Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the UN Medal, the Peace Keeping Medal, and the UN Emergency Force Medal. He was a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for 25 years. Raymond passed away on February 17, 2013. DESILETS, Gaston J. Gaston was born on July 22, 1946 in Kapuskasing, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on February 1, 1965. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, No. 647 Squadron; the Algonquin Regiment, Army Corps, A Squadron; and the Royal 22nd Regiment. Gaston took part in a NATO competition using issued combat rifles. Americans won this trophy when they sent in a sniper group using non-traditional weapons. The winners disappeared immediately after winning the trophy. Private Desilets was discharged on February 19, 1968.
