139 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DRISDELLE, Willie J. Willie was born in St. Paul de Kent, NB on March 30, 1923. He enlisted in the Army in September 1941. He served with Le Régiment Maisoneuve, Détachement de Renfort in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Willie was severely wounded in France in 1944 and spent several weeks in hospital before being repatriated back to Canada. He was discharged in January 1946. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the Defence Medal. He was a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for 50 years. Willie passed away on July 13, 1998. DUFF, Lorne G. Lorne was born on August 22, 1896 in Myrtle, ON. He enlisted in the Army on October 16, 1917 and served during World War I. After the war, he returned home where he met and married Hazel Lamb. They had six children and Lorne worked on farms. After leaving Pedlars he worked at E.P. Taylors National Stud Farm. Upon retiring, they sold the farm and moved into a house in Port Perry. He was a member of Port Perry Legion Branch 419. Lorne passed away on August 15, 1987. DRYGALA, John J. John was born in Forfar, Scotland on November 26, 1943 and immigrated to Canada in 1955. He enlisted in the Army Reserve in May 1961. He served with the Ontario Regiment, the Governor General’s Horse Guards, the Toronto Militia District Headquarters, and the Central Militia Area Headquarters. In 1976, John was appointed RSM of The Ontario Regiment and later as District Sergeant Major of Toronto District and Area Sergeant Major of Central Militia Area. In 1997, he was commissioned as a Captain and returned to The Ontario Regiment as Adjutant. John was discharged in March 1998. He was awarded the Canada Decoration with two bars, the Queen’s Silver, Gold and Diamond Jubilee Medals and in 1990 was inducted as a member in the Order of Military Merit. In 1998, John was appointed as an Aide de Camp to the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. He has been a member of Oshawa Legion Branch 43 for 36 years.
