149 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND EDWARDS, Harry T. Harry was born on February 3, 1924 in Dawn Township, ON. He enlisted in the Army on May 15, 1944. He served with the Essex Scottish Regiment in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. He served in the infantry before serving in the army of occupation for one year driving jeeps and motorcycles. Private Edwards was discharged on July 22, 1946. He was awarded the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Harry has been a member of Sarnia Legion Branch 62 for 48 years. ELLIOTT, Douglas E. Douglas was born on April 5, 1925 in Welland, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in November 1943. He served with Six Group, Bomber Command, Squadron 420 in England during World War II. He was discharged on November 9, 1945. Douglas was awarded the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II for his volunteer work. He was a member of Talbot Trail Legion Branch 613 for 42 years. Douglas passed away on June 10, 2013. ELBERS, Gerardus M. M. Gerardus was born in Linden, Holland on April 16, 1920. He served in the Dutch Underground Movement, following invasion he enlisted in the Dutch Army and was attached to the Canadian Military. He served with the Regiment Stoottroepen in Holland. Gerardus was discharged on May 9, 1946. He was a member of Orillia Legion Branch 34 for 47 years.
