163 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FRY, Douglas E. Douglas was born on May 26, 1922 in Kincardine, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on April 27, 1942. He served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. He was discharged on February 7, 1946. He was a member of Kincardine Legion Branch 183. Douglas passed away on July 30, 1981. GAGNÉ, Joseph Sylvio Joseph was born on June 10, 1924 in Cartier, ON. He enlisted in the Army on July 7, 1943. He received his basic training in Brantford and Petawawa, ON. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers, 1st Road Construction Company as a driver mechanic in Normandy and Germany during World War II. He served in the Army of Occupation in Oldenburg, Germany until his discharge on February 27, 1946. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. After the war, he worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway in Northern Ontario, and later as diesel shop foreman. He retired after 46 years of service. Joseph has been an active member of East Toronto Legion Branch 11 for 31 years. FULLER, John John was born in Wellingborough, England on November 25, 1940. Prior to his enlistment in the Canadian Forces on September 12, 1962, he served with two militia units, Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment in Belleville, ON and the Grey and Simcoe Foresters in Orillia, ON. While stationed at CFB Borden, he was employed as a paymaster before being transferred to the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada as an infantry officer in 1963. John also served with 2 Commando of the Special Service Force in Edmonton. After the Black Watch disbanded in 1970, he rebadged to the 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment in London, ON in 1972. He served in Cyprus and India/Pakistan. He was discharged on February 18, 1985 at the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Canadian Peacekeeping Medal, the UN Military Observation Group in India and Pakistan, UN Force in Cyprus and The Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp. John has been a member of Sir Arthur Currie Legion Branch 116 for 34 years.
