169 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GEER, E. Earle Earle was born on January 18, 1924 in Uxbridge Township, ON. He enlisted in the Army on January 25, 1943. He received his basic training in Brampton, ON, and Advanced Training and Light Anti-Aircraft Artillery Training at Eastern Passage in Nova Scotia. He served with the Army Service Corps in England and Continental Europe during World War II. Earle arrived in Britain in August 1943 where he served in air defense until August 1944 and then in France, Belgium and Holland until the end of the War. He was serving in Holland during its liberation. He left Continental Europe early in 1946 and was discharged on March 25, 1946. He married Audrey Ploughman in September 1949. Earle has been a member of Port Perry Legion Branch 419 for 12 years. GERBER, Kalmon W. Kalmon was born on July 3, 1923 in Neustadt, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on July 10, 1941. He served with the Kent Regiment as a dispatch driver in the United Kingdom and Italy during World War II. He was discharged on March 13, 1946. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Maple Leaf Bar, the 193945 War Medal, and the Defence Medal. He married in 1947 and had five children. Kalmon passed away on July 9, 1990. GENDRON, Roger Joseph Roger was born in St. Moise (St. Noël), QC on August 8, 1923. He enlisted in the Army and trained in Saint Gabriel-de-Valcartier. World War II ended by the time his training was completed and he did not get to serve overseas. He moved to White River in 1957, worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway for 20 years and for Abitibi/Domtar mill for 11 years until he retired at the age of 65. Roger has been a member of the White River Legion Branch 169 for 57 years
