171 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GIBSON, Robert J. Robert was born on March 24, 1924 in Pickering Township, ON. He enlisted in the Army on February 8, 1943. He served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons in Canada, England, Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany during World War II. He was discharged in March 1946. He was a member of Whitby Legion Branch 112. Robert passed away on December 28, 1992. GIFFELS, William William was born on February 13, 1927 in Sarnia, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in February 1945 and was discharged in September of the same year. William worked for over 30 years at Polysar as a process operator. He married his first wife and raised four children. He later remarried to Christina Stuart and lived in Brigden for 31 years. He and Christina were Charter Members of Brigden Legion Branch 635 and served on the executive. William passed away on April 21, 1995. GIBSON, William Bruce Bruce was born in Strathroy Ontario on 13 November 1934. He enlisted at a very young age of 17 in the Canadian Army on 1 September 1950 as a gunner and served with the 3rd Regiment of the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry stationed in Victoria BC. His tour of duty included York Island and Japan. Bruce was honourably discharged on 7 May 1952 at the rank of Private. He had been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 52 years. Bruce passed away on 4 May 2011 at the age of 77.
