175 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GIORGIANNI, Charles E. Charles was born on December 2, 1918 in Angus, ON. He enlisted in the Army in 1940. He served in the Army Service Corps before transferring to the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was discharged in December 1944. He was awarded the British Empire Medal, the 1939-45 Star, and the Atlantic Star. He built his first tow truck in 1937 and had several after the war. He was a truck dealer for 20 years and was a professional underwater diver for approximately 30 years. Charles has been a member of DR W. C. (Bill) Little M. M. Legion Branch 147. GLENCROSS, Gordon J. Gordon was born in Donkin, NS on June 13, 1920. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940. He served as a signaler with No. 6 Bomber Group Headquarters and the 39th Reconnaissance Wing in Britain, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany during World War II. He landed on Juno Beach, he was in Bergen-Belsen the day after its liberation, and he was in Hamburg on VE Day. He was selected for transfer to the Pacific Theatre and was in Lachine, QC on his way to the west coast on VJ Day. He married Lorna and had four children. They settled in Dorval, QC, where, in addition to his job at Bell, he was a town councilor. He contracted polio in 1959 and survived but walked with canes for the rest of his life. He was a member of Dorval Air Services Legion Branch 245 for 10 years. Gordon passed away on October 26, 2005. GLEN, Valentine M. Valentine was born on April 23, 1938 in Scotland. He enlisted in the British Army on June 25, 1959. He served with the Royal Scots Fusiliers until November 18, 1959, the Gordon Highlanders from November 19, 1959 to November 18, 1961 and the Royal Highland Fusiliers from December 12, 1961 to May 18, 1965. He served in West Germany and Scotland. Valentine has been a member of Captain Fred Campbell, V.C. Legion Branch 134.
