187 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GRASLEY, David M. David was born on March 23, 1953 in Sault Ste Marie, ON. He enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in February 1972. He attended Recruit School in Cornwallis, NS and Fire Fighter School at CFB Borden. He served in CFB North Bay, on HMCS Protecteur, in CFB Toronto, on HMCS Saguenay, in CFB Baden-Soellingen, in CFB Moose Jaw, on HMCS Preserver, back to CFB Moose Jaw and back to CFB North Bay. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp, the Peace Keeping Medal, the Special Service (Alert-NATO Bar) and Former Yugoslavia. He was discharged in June 2000. He also served as an Air Reservist. David has been a member of the Thessalon Legion Branch 182 for 14 years. GREENER, James G. James was born in Seaton Sluice, Northumberland, England in January 1909. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939. He served with No 1 Fighter Squadron and No 401 Bomber Command in England during World War II. He was discharged in 1945 and returned to Canada. James passed away on December 4, 1990. GRASLEY, Elmer L. Elmer was born on December 20, 1920 in Bruce Station, ON. He enlisted in the Army on July 30, 1940. He trained in Camp Borden before being assigned to the Trois-Rivière 1st Brigade. He qualified as a tank driveroperator “C” on November 1, 1942. He re-mustered and qualified as a wireless operator “C” in 1943. Trooper Grasley served in Canada, Italy and the United Kingdom during World War II. Elmer was awarded the 1939-45 War Medal, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 Star, and a good conduct stripe. He was wounded and discharged in 1944. He was a member of Bruce Mines Legion Branch 211 for over 25 years. Elmer passed away on January 11, 2002.
