197 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GRIFFIN, Henry Augustus Henry was born on April 10, 1844 in Waterdown, Ontario to Ebenezer and Eliza Griffin. He served in the Volunteer Militia Battalion at the Niagara Frontier in 1864. In 1865 he moved to the United States and was editor of various newspaper, secretary of the Ohio Board of Commerce and a bank president. Henry passed away on July 17, 1904 in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. GRIFFIN, Herbert Spohn Herbert was born in Mount Pleasant, Ontario in 1854. He enlisted in the Army and served with the 13th Royal Regiment of Hamilton. He was a Graduate of the University of Toronto in medicine. He practiced in northern Ontario before relocating to Hamilton where he worked as a surgeon and general practitioner with a large and successful practice. He was a surgeon with the 13th Royal Regiment of Hamilton from which he retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Herbert passed away on June 28, 1921. GRIFFIN, Herbert Kent Herbert was born on March 6, 1902 in Hamilton, Ontario. He was the son of Dr. Herbert Spohn Griffin of Hamilton and was educated at Hamilton Collegiate Institute. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 at the age of 41 and was Sergeant in Personnel Selection. He served in Canada, Britain, France and Belgium. He was discharged in 1945. He was employed by Imperial Oil Ltd for 35 years. Herbert passed away on June 15, 1983 in St. Thomas, ON.
