23 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ADAMS, Thomas Roy Thomas was born in St. Catharines, Ontario on November 25, 1920. He enlisted in the Army on June 29, 1940 and served as a Corporal with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment in Newfoundland and England. Thomas served during World War II. He was discharged on February 15, 1944. He worked in industry and became Mayor of St. Catharines for nine years. Thomas served on Niagara Regional Council. In recognition of his work, a bandshell in Montebello Park is named after him as well as the T. Roy Adams Dementia Center and T. Roy Adams Award for the person who has worked hard for the people in the Niagara Region. Thomas was a member of the H. T. Church Branch 24 in St. Catharines for 55 years. He passed away on January 25, 2002. ADAMS, William G. “Bill” Bill was born in St. Catharines, Ontario in 1924. He joined the Lincoln and Welland Regiment on June 29, 1940 and became a Sergeant at the age of fifteen. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant at the age of eighteen. Bill served in Canada, Newfoundland, Britain and Europe during World War II. He was killed in action on August 15, 1944 in Europe and is buried at Bretteville-Sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery. ADAMS, William C. “Charles” Charles was born in Plymouth, Devon, England on November 5, 1885. He enlisted in the Army on September 3, 1915 and served in France during World War I with the Original Unit 35th Battalion and transitioned to 1st Battalion. He was band master overseas. Charles was discharged on January 7, 1919. Upon civilian life, he was the band master of the St. Catherines Salvation Army and was Sergeant of the Lincoln Reg. He was a bread salesman and retired as personnel manager of the United Steel in Welland, ON. Charles was a member of the Port Dalhousie Legion Branch 350 and Merritton Legion Branch 138. He passed away on August 24, 1971.
