27 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ALDRED, Jack W. Jack was born on December 19, 1923 in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve on March 26, 1942. He served on HMCS Prince Robert convoying from Plymouth to Gibraltar and Naples, Italy as an anti-aircraft cruiser to protect convoys under attack in the Bay of Biscay. He was discharged on August 29, 1945. Jack has been a member of Todmorden Legion Branch 10 for 18 years. ALLIN, Percy William Percy was born on February 8, 1923 in Hampton, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on April 5, 1943 and served with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry in Canada, Britain and Northwest Europe during World War II. He was wounded on July 25, 1944 in Verrières Ridge where many were lost or wounded. He was also wounded in Holland on March 2, 1945. He was discharged on November 24, 1945. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Medal and Clasp, and the 1939-45 War Medal. He was a member of Bancroft Legion Branch 181, Douglas C Hatch Legion Branch 624, and Millbrook Legion Branch 402. Percy passed away on January 2, 2011. ALLEN, Allan W. Allan was born in Windsor, Ontario on August 1, 1924. He enlisted in the Army in February of 1942 at the age of eighteen. He served with the 19th Field Regiment RCA during World War II. He took basic training in Stratford and Kingston. After two months in England, he went to France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. He served in the Occupation of Germany at the end of the war. Allan was discharged in March of 1946. In 2015, he was nominated to Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour of France and was presented his medal at the Branch Annual Mess Diner. Following the war, Allan worked for CN Telegraph. He married in 1947 and had six children and now lives in Markdale, ON. He is a member of the Legions in Kingston and Oakville.
