Military Service Recognition Book

1 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND July 2016 For 90 years, the Royal Canadian Legion has advocated for military veterans and their families, offering support through a variety of services and programs. As our society changes and as the needs of veterans become more complex, the Legion remains resolute in its efforts to improve their lives. Initiatives such as “Leave the Streets Behind”, which originated with the Ontario Command, are providing vital social services to our ex-service men and women. This is the kind of innovative thinking, caring and compassion we have learned to expect from the Legion. The Military Service Recognition Book is a project that was first introduced in 2014 in our province. Its aim is to document all personnel with ties to Ontario who served, or are serving, in the Canadian military. All the stories you read have been submitted by families, friends and volunteers. I invite you to learn more about these brave and dedicated men and women. As the 29th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and as Honorary Patron of the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Command, I express my gratitude to all those involved in the compilation of this important work of remembrance. Thank you for your continued efforts on behalf of our veterans. Elizabeth Dowdeswell
