31 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ARMSTRONG, Robert D. Robert was born on January 20, 1919 in Massey, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on December 17, 1941. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers in England and Continental Europe during World War II. During his service Robert built and dismantled bridges and roads and fought in Normandy. He was discharged on December 8, 1945. After the war, he returned home and lived in the same house where he was born with his war bride and daughter, who arrived in 1946. He was active with the local Fire Department, local school boards and the St. James Anglican Church. He was a member of Massey Legion Branch 432 for 45 years. Robert passed away on October 4, 1988. ARNOTT (ROBSON), Kathleen H. Kathleen was born on May 25, 1924 in Merritton, Ontario. She enlisted in the Army on October 27, 1942. She served with the Canadian Women’s Army Corp during World War II. She was stationed in Montreal, QC and prepared tanks for overseas shipping; and in Toronto where she drove officers to meetings. She was discharged on December 20, 1945. Kathleen has been a member of Talbot Trail Legion Branch 613 for over 30 years. ARNOTT, George Orr George was born on June 17, 1925 in St. Catherines, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on June 2, 1942. He served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, and the Central Mediterranean area during World War II. He was discharged in December 3, 1946 and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the Defence Medal, the Italy Star, and the France and Germany Star. He was a member of Talbot Trail Legion Branch 613 for over 40 years. George passed away in August 2008.
