33 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BAGNALL, Frank W. Frank was born in London, England on March 9, 1918 and immigrated to Canada in 1919. He enlisted in the Army in October 1940 and served with the 1st Battalion Oxford Rifles until 1942 when he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He trained as a radar mechanic at McGill University. As a Lance Corporal, he was posted to the Clinton radar station in July 1942. He spent the next three years at the Ucluelet, Bella Bella and Patricia Bar radar stations on Canada’s West Coast. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served at the Leeming and Skipton-on-Swale radar bases in Yorkshire, England from July 1945 to April 1946. Frank completed his B.A. at the University of Western Ontario in 1947 and resumed his career as a teacher and principal. He retired from the London Board of Education in 1973, having earned a Master of Education in 1966. Frank passed away on October 11, 1995. BAILEY, Milton E. “Mick” Mick was born in London, Ontario in 1917. He enlisted in the Army on June 18, 1940 and served in the Royal Canadian Regiment in France, Germany, and Italy during World War II. Mick was a D-Day Dodger. He was awarded the France and Germany Star, the Italy Star, and the 1939-45 Star. He was a member of Sarnia Legion Branch 62. Mick passed away on September 2, 1999. BAILEY, Ernest Roy Roy was born on August 29, 1922 in Silver Water, Manitoulin Island, ON. He enlisted in the Army on September 21, 1941. He served with the Essex Scottish Regiment and the Queen’s Own Rifles in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany during World War II. He was wounded at Dieppe in 1942 and later went on to serve as part of the army of occupation. Roy was discharged on February 6, 1946 and earned his living as a carpenter. He was a member of Blind River Legion Branch 189 for 22 years and Gore Bay Legion Branch 514 for 16 years. Roy passed away on February 8, 1997.
