53 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BISHOP, Eric P. Eric was born in Redhead, NB on August 2, 1922. He enlisted in the Army and served in the infantry first then in the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He also served with the US Pacific Forces and was sent by the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to the University of Michigan for a master’s degree in Engineering. He was a member of Gordon Gaylord Legion Branch 334 for 15 years. Eric passed away on March 23, 2001. BLAIR, John A. John was born on January 20, 1921 in Brooklin, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in December 1942. He served with the Royal Canadian Service Corps in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany during World War II. He was a member of Brooklin Legion Branch 152. John passed away on October 16, 1998. BLACK, John C. F. “Jack” Jack was born on August 1, 1911 in Goderich, ON. He was a quiet gentleman with a competitive spirit winning many medals in track & Field, including pole vault. He enlisted in the Army on November 20, 1939. Staff Sergeant Black was discharged on June 6, 1946. Upon being discharged, he bought a home in Simcoe and managed the Simcoe Armoury until his death. During that time he established the Simcoe Badminton Club and was treasurer of the Simcoe minor Hockey Club. Jack also contributed to his community as a member of the Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen. He loved his wife Lorraine and his four children John, Shari, Bill and Peter. John passed away on July 1, 1969.
