61 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BOYNTON, Clarence J. “Charlie” “Jim” Sgt. Boynton was born on May 2, 1919 in Craigleith, Grey County, ON. He enlisted in the Army in March 1941. He served with the Princess Louise’s Hussars in North Africa, Italy, France, Germany, Holland, and England. He was wounded in Italy in 1944 and in Holland in 1945. He had hearing loss from his time as a tank commander. He received 3 service medals and 4 Canadian Commemorative Medals. He was discharged in September 1945. After the war Clarence and his wife, Ina, acquired a beef farm in Grey County. Clarence fought for the survival of family farms with helping in the creation of the Ontario Pork Marketing System, vice-chairing the National Farm Products Marketing Council, charter member of the Elmwood Credit Union and many years with the Grey County Federation of Agriculture. Jim was named an honourary life member of the Ontario Institute of Agrologists, received Rotary’s Paul Harris Award, raised money for the local hospital and faithfully served his church. He was a member of Chesley Legion Branch 144 for over 30 years. Clarence passed away on October 18, 2007. BRASH, Albert E. Albert was born in Westport, Ontario on August 18, 1896. He enlisted in the Army on February 8, 1916 and served in Canada, England and Western Europe with the 2nd Canadian Infantry, 156th Battalion CEF during World War I. Albert was honourably discharged with the rank of Private. He was wounded by shrapnel in Western Europe and used a cane the rest of his life. He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. Albert was a member of the Hollywood Legion Branch 425 before he passed away on May 7, 1955. BRADIMORE, Harry C. Harry was born on May 19, 1922 in Coboconk, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on August 5, 1942. He served with the Royal Canadian Artillery, 5th Field Regiment, 73 Battery in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. He was discharged on December 6, 1945 and was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the 1939-45 War Medal. After returning home, he worked for the CNR Railway in the bridge and building section. He was a member of Coboconk Legion Branch 519 for 60 years. Harry passed away on November 2, 2011.
