81 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BURT, Robert G. A. “Bud” Bud was born in Yale, Michigan, United States on April 8, 1924. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on November 1942. He completed gunnery school in Manitoba in August 1943. Sergeant Burt served as a rear gunner in England and France during World War II. He was stationed in Linton-on-Ouse, Yorkshire, England with No. 408 Squadron as a tail gunner. Bud was killed in action in Hilsenheim Valley, France in 1944. He was awarded the Operational Wings of the Royal Canadian Air force posthumously. BURTON, James O. James was born on July 4, 1925 in Haileybury, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in February 1943 and served with the First Canadian Parachute Battalion in Canada and the United States during World War II. James was discharged in 1946. BURTCH, David S. David was born on August 2, 1951 in Kingston, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in 1970 and served with the 2nd Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Canada and Cyprus. He was discharged in 1973. David has been a member of Orillia Legion Branch 34.
